"A kind, caring, welcoming teachers and community. The school is a bit small, but they make up for that by using community resources. I love true Montessori approach.. students learn independence, thoughtfulness, creative thinking and community awareness in a way no traditional school can offer. I don't worry about my daughter not having to memorize answers for tests, because here she develops the skills necessary to find the information she needs. A Montessori student is never lost."

"[Our daughter] found out she learned a lot at NW Montessori School. She learned how to study and has very high grades at the highest level, and is specializing in science subjects. And what is even better, she has loads of friends and loves to go to school."

"As [our son] progressed through his third year of Montessori pre-school, the following school year loomed large. He was fashioning treasure maps with peninsulas and gulfs on them, compatible with kids both older and younger, and incredibly independent at home. His social, emotional, and intellectual progress during that third year was very exciting for us to see. The idea of a classroom with desks, worksheets, and a lesson plan created for the "masses" was unappealing. Although we are only 3 months into our elementary experience, we are so satisfied with our choice. Each time I enter the classroom I see more that I like; [our son] is lit up with his enjoyment of school. I highly encourage an observation of the program as you work through the decision of what would be best for your child."

"My daughter attended this school as soon as she was potty trained (2+ years old). She was tiny. But she thrived because she could do a task or learn a concept and take as much time mastering it until she thoroughly got it. She ;learned at her own pace. What an incredibly wonderful experience for a youngster to have.....to learn at their own pace not some pre-ordained timetable as you see in the public schools.. Bad: I didn't like that the teachers really don't want the parents to hang around and spend a lot of time in the classroom. I think it is important to socialize kids with adults, but their philosophy is that many kids are shy and when a "strange" adult is in their space, their learning stops or slows down. I can appreciate it, I just wish it weren't so. I like to get involved with my kids and their friends and their education and so I felt somewhat "left out", but I do think the teachers were probably right on. Other: My daughter had such a solid concept for math, reading and writing and enjoyed learning. I think her earlyier years at Montessori had a lot to do with it, and she continued to take the "Running Start" college program when she was in high school and just graduated from a 4 year college at the age of 20. I owe an appreciation for the wonderful teachers at NW Montessori.."

"Unlike [another] reviewer, my kids DO attend this school and I believe it to be the best school ever. We have a very bright child who was bored at the local Catholic school and a child with significant learning delays. Both children are THRIVING. The education is exceptionally child-centered--math, english, and science learnings have been remarkable. We have found this school to be nothing less than flexible, loving and supportive. Can't recommend highly enough!"

"Was referred to this childcare from my son's other center... by another parent. Wow, what a difference! NW Montessori is all that I hoped a child care center would be and more. The teachers obviously love what they do, the director and other staff are the best at what they do, and I feel more at ease knowing that there is an option in Seattle like this establishment. My son has only been there a couple months, but I think its the best decision I have made. He is much happier there..."
